Kaleidoscope is a new YA-orientated anthology edited by Julia Rios and Alisa Krasnostein. It will be out in a few weeks and contains my story "Celebration," which was written in December 2013. You can see the table of contents and read some introductory comments about each story at this interview posted on The Book Smugglers. I was pretty happy with how this story turned out, and it is a classic example of how the partnership between writer and editor can make the finished product much better than the original. The story I submitted to them was 10,000 words long. They liked it, but told me it needed to be cut to 5,000 words to make the cut. Challenging to be sure, but Julia and Alisa provided me with great story notes to help me reshape the tale. So thanks to them for that, and for including my story in an anthology that includes Ken Liu, Garth Nix, and John Chu.
